Pacific crossing - Part 2 !

Well.. This was well long over due. In more ways than just one...

But yes. There were almost no part 1. As that try didn’t really go as planned. As well, I had to go through what I wrote the last time. But internet didn’t really let me. So I’ll just fast forward to the actual event which everyone so dearly been longing for… ehm.

It was an early morning. Clearing out from Chile hadn’t really gone as planned, even though it went as expected. We were allowed to leave. Little on a whim and little hustling to get out but after a couple of days we were free to set sail. And so we did. What an amazing feeling. For about twentynine minutes until the wind died on us. Too be fair, I wouldn’t want the wind I’ve been experiencing the last couple of months (years?). However, a dash more wouldn’t have been so bad.

So it continued until we, after 37 days reached Gambiers in French Polynesia. A trip we’ve been expecting to take about 30 days. At least according to my calculations and with the winds normally expected. Those, obviously, did not occur. But we made it. Time for me to get over this as well. Rolling, back and forth, being glad to do 4 kts we tried everyting in our powers to fish. It went amazing. For the first 6 days. Were we actually had to do “catch and release” at times. It was set. We KNEW we would get fish all the way. Absolutely ruthless of us to sit on such an amount of canned tuna, salmon and other goodies. We thought. Then we arrived without anything of such. The luck had changed, as if we ever had any, but at least in terms of fishing. Christian, whom joined 2 weeks before departure was devastated and Hannah lived on canned peas for the rest of the trip. The morale was low and one could think things were to change as this was somewhere around day 10. But no.

Until Christian actually figured out a recepie of food we all enjoyed and he took over the kitchen completely. Potato, cream and canned salmon pretty much sums up this trip. I did try baking bread. It ended up as pizza instead which one could think would’ve been great. It was. Sometimes. Sometimes it was just sweet and not good at all. Christian, back to work!

Seriously though. Nothing bad happened at all. It just took time. It took longer time when we fucked up the fridge somehow. Which of course was just a 10min fix once we arrived. Should’ve taken that time before. Either way, lets get back to the fact we made it across and not get stuck on small details.

We’ve now spent almost 2 weeks in Gambiers. Planning to go north, via the tuamotos towards Tahiti. Then we’ll see where this boat will go.

Last sunrise for a while in Valdivia, Chile.

Canons was a blaze while we left port...

Just sailing.... sailing..

Hannah waits to arrive.... Calm down, Hannah, 30 more days to go!

Sunset somewhere...

Not sure whom caught whom, But Christian did look more scared than the Tuna...

One of the first anchorages in Polynesia...

Polynesia it is. Properly evident here...

Nice to see some beaches again...

Colon still floats... good!

Made it!

Yeah, also, it is kinda warm here now. Weird ey? 25 degrees in the water. 30 degrees during daytime. Beaver hunting and cold days seem a far way now. Shorts seem to be a thing here…

Talk later. Cheers!
