Planning, decisions and uncertainties

No horizons in sight...

How many times have I not been sitting down, just like this, wanting to share something just to realize that there are more notes about what is not happening rather than what is happening. How many times have I not really felt inspired about writing but then just, like now, stumbling a little on the starting line...

So what is actually happening now? Where are we? How are we? Why are we? How? When? Where?

We are waiting for winds. Low pressures are coming more north these days, meaning that we have a super hard time finding a weather window to actually leave. It is getting frustrating. Not so much by actually being here. But that we are in a place of uncertainties. When can we leave? The winds are changing on all prediction sites on, what almost feel like, an hourly basis. Making it super hard to plan anything. Which is the frustrating part. We are one day preparing to leave, to the next day seeing it has all changed. Endless loop it seem now. This is normally not a problem, but seem to take a lot of focus away from actually getting anything else done.

Karate kid bird...

So what should we? Decide that we are staying for a time, no matter the opportunities? Getting some bigger jobs done? Or just linger around, hoping for the best and in worst case find ourselves here in October and Nothing at all being done? We really don't know at this stage.

Another problem of course is the issue with my expired VISA. When we returned to Chile the authorities did not really see it like we ever left. Leading to me having about 2 months already overstayed my VISA. Great! Not... But it seem, after a lot of investigating with Immigration, and other instances here in Chile, we are close to getting a Pardon due to the Covid-19 situation. Meaning we might not have to stress to actually leave (in terms of fines and angry immigration workers!). That is great new, at least for my inner stress. However, doesn't really change anything in terms of what plans we really have at the moment...

Yeah also, Polynesia removed our permit as we will be unable to arrive within a reasonable time to our first indication to them (which to be honest, is not really our first indication, but rather third....). They seem to be open to new applications, referring to the old one. So I am confident new one will be approved. But... What date to I indicate, as we are unable to move at the moment. When can we move? We are not even able to find opportunities to move north to the next safe harbor as it have looked for almost 4 weeks. Expected this to take some weird turn soon. But yeah.... Do we linger around hoping for the best, going crazy about doing nothing or do we decide to get stuff done and maybe miss one or two windows...?

Decisions, decisions, decisions....

This is another boat. On another dock. We don't know them.

Anyways. We Don't know. Really.

In reality, I think at a long term option is to postpone departure from here a little as it looks right now. Then when windows opening up, we claw ourselves along the coast north until we get to an easier spot to know more exact dates of arrival in Polynesia. Once "there" we apply, hope for the best and take it as it comes. Until then, we are getting good help from Raul at Roaring forties marina with the authorities and until all done, I fell we really found a good ally in order to help us out no matter what.

Amazing how absolutely nothing ended up with this amount of text... Can't believe it myself either... I guess no one made it this far in the text anyways, so should just as well just stop writing..

Or should I?

Maybe?

Otherwise, there is a bunch of Wine and beers missing from the provisioning in Puerto Montt that was supposed to be enjoyed in Polynesia. So all evil have some good inside, or how do you say?

Mornings are getting colder...

Anyways. We are alone. All others left. Heard some rumors some old Puerto Williams friends on other boats are slowly making progress north. Maybe can get here soon. We will see...

Moved the boat the other day. To the other side of the pontoon. Did not ask for a Zarpe....

Nah. Will stop writing now...
